Evelyn M. Payne Huffer, 90, of Frankfort, died November 12, 2024 at Wesley Manor. She was born October 28, 1934 in Frankfort to Floyd E. & Mary E. (Crick) Gilmore. She married Gene A. Payne on June 9, 1956 and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2003. She then married Wilbur Huffer on January 9, 2010 and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2016.
Evelyn was a 1952 graduate of Colfax High School, received her BA degree in education from Ball State University and her Masters from Butler University. She taught business at Zionsville Schools and was very involved in the Zionsville School activities. She was a member of the New Hope Church, Eastern Star, Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Visitation and Services
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, November 17 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 18th at the funeral home. Following the service, as meal will be held at New Hope Church, 5306 W CR 600 S, Frankfort, then following the meal, burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Zionsville. Memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Church, c/o Penny Ramsey, 7131 N CR 0 EW, Frankfort, IN 46041.

Son: Gary (Linda) Payne of Lebanon, Daughters: Mary Ann (Benny) Shepherd, Louden of Darlington, Marlene Payne Goss of New Castle, Marilyn (Sam) Merrill of Lebanon, Sisters: Alice Davis of Frankfort, Roberta Wiley of Frankfort, Joan (Millard See) Wood of Frankfort, Brother: Robert (Pam) Gilmore of Zionsville, 11 Grandchildren, several Great Grand-Children and Great Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, spouses, she is preceded in death by a brother Donald Eugene Gilmore and a grandson, Robbie C. Payne.
