Donald McKinzie Hill

Donald McKinzie Hill, 97, of Frankfort, IN, passed away October 29, 2019 at his home.  He was born on August 30, 1922 on the McKinzie farm that has been in the family for 130 years to the late Russell Brenton Hill and Delcie (McKinzie) Hill.  He graduated from Kirklin High School in 1940.  His marriage the love of his life Wyndham Ruth Lindley on February 5, 1943 in the Church of God parsonage in Kirklin and she preceded him in death on July 2, 2019.  They were married for 76 years.

Mr. Hill was a veteran of the US Navy.  He volunteered for the Navy Seabees and was attached to a First Marine where he was on 6 landings in many islands from Guam to the Philippines.  He received 2 bronze stars and 6 other medals.  Don also was a pilot and aircraft owner for over 37 years. He owned his own construction business and built homes for 65 years along with farming for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion, Masons, Shriners, Eastern Star and the Country Christian Fellowship Church.

Visitation and Services

Private family graveside services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you remember your favorite charity. Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St. Frankfort, is honored to assist the Hill family.

Survived by:

He is survived by his 3 Grandchildren: Tana (Mark) Sinnot of Seattle, Washington, Rhett Hill of Frankfort, Indiana, and Dustin (Victoria) Hill of Frankfort, Indiana; and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Preceded by:

His only child, Donald Joe Hill, passed away in 1995 at 47 years of age and was a CPA with his own business.
