David C. “Cary” Fisher

October 27, 2024

David C. “Cary” Fisher, 85, of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away October 27, 2024 in his home.  He was born on September 7, 1939 in Frankfort to Homer and Mabel (Sites) Fisher.  He married Jayne A. Skinner on August 29, 1961 and she preceded him in death on July 2, 2003.

A lifelong Clinton County resident, Cary was a graduate of Frankfort High School and served in the United States Army National Guard.  He owned and operated the Foreign Car Center and after he closed his shop in the late 1980’s, he worked for Subaru.  He was a past member of the Archery Club and enjoyed target shooting, boating, water skiing, and fishing.  He was a huge NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt and had become an avid Fever fan.  He was looking forward to the newest Yellowstone season.  One of his greatest joys was hanging with the guys.

Memorial donations may be made in Cary’s honor to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital Pediatric Neurology, 8414 Naab Rd. #205, Indianapolis, IN 46260 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Sorry to hear about Dave’s passing. I have so many great memories talking with him about VW Beetles at the Foreign Car Center. He was a talented, knowledgeable car enthusiast who cared about his customers. Dave serviced my 1974 Bug, which still runs great today because of the initial repair work he did after I bought it in the early 1980s. Dave was a remarkable person whose genuine spirit connected with everyone around him. May the love and memories you shared bring you comfort as you deal with the loss. Please know that our family is praying for you.

Sherry, been a long time since I have seen you. Your dad was a good friend and I always enjoyed his company, his dry humor, and that smirky smile. So sorry to hear about this.

I didn’t really know Cary but my Dad always spoke highly of him. I was hit on my bike when I was 8 years old right in front of his house on Clinton Drive and he saw it happen. He called my Dad to make sure he knew and that I was okay. It was a great neighborhood to grow up in.
