Facebook Twitter GoogleI had the pleasure of meeting Dan through CCA. He was a referee and a great one, not only was Dan fair, he was an outstanding gentleman. I enjoyed spending time with him at a Colt’s game and spending time with him on Moorse. I was truly heart broken when I heard the world had lost a wonderful, caring person as Dan. He was loved appreciated and will be missed by many.

Facebook Twitter GoogleDan was such an intricate part of my childhood. Dan (aka Danny Joe) was my step brother by marriage but I viewed him as my brother and a part of my family. I have many great memories of family vacations, camping, boating, fighting over his hot wheels/Star Wars toys. I always looked forward to the weekends and Holidays when Dan came to stay with us. As we got older, we would often run into each other at concerts and catch up on our lives. I loved him and I will miss running into him at concerts and our occasional messages through Facebook checking in with each other. My prayers go out to all who are impacted by our loss. My heart is breaking for Brenda and our dad.

Facebook Twitter GoogleSuch a beautiful service honoring Dan. I had the privilege of working with Dan at WFBQ/WRZX. Dan was one of the army of folks behind the scenes that worked hard to keep that radio powerhouse strong and successful. I was glad to work alongside him in those glory days and know him beyond those times. He was kind, generous and so very funny. I am so sorry for your loss and lifting you up in prayer.

Thank you for the good times we shared. Maybe I’ll see you again. Until then, keep to being you. I’ll miss our KC/Raider texting battles. I can honestly say I love you bud.

Facebook Twitter GoogleThank you Steve! He did have a smile that I will never forget.

Facebook Twitter GoogleMy deepest sympathy to you. Dan was such a special person, and a dear friend for many years. He introduced me to the Great Divide, Thanksgimlet, Isenbeck beer, and he was my Ben Folds concert buddy when nobody else would go. He helped me save baby geese on a highway in Louisville, then (apparently) committed a federal offense when we drove them across the state line to get them to a rescue in Indianapolis. I loved him dearly and will cherish those memories. Peace to you. Susan Lowry

Facebook Twitter GoogleOh I so remember the baby geese story. He thought you were out of your mind but being the wonderful guy he is
he stopped. Thank you for sharing and for your kind words.

Facebook Twitter GoogleI am truly sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure to be hired by Dan and Rico Fonseca in 2005 as intern at Q95/X103/WNDE1260. I was able to gain a part time position from that internship that allowed me to get to know Dan even more. Funny story is we were doing an in-state college football tour promotion on Saturdays that we worked together. We were at Purdue and unfortunately the radio signal was weak not allowing us to play music. Dan asked me to play from an iPod so I was sort of DJ’ing that morning. I was doing what I thought was a decent job when I played a Rage Against A Machine song. Dan immediately runs over to me instructing me to turn it at once. I was confused asked why and his response in a sense was, do your homework and tell me why we can’t play that song on Monday. I of course was dumb and stubborn at the time but actually listened which I am glad I did. Come to find out, the song I was playing actually ends with the same explicit line repeated 16 times. He pretty much taught me a quick lesson that you have to know the ins and outs of music and your demographic if you are going to be in the music entertainment business. From ’05 on I knew Dan as a boss, a leader, a teacher and a friend. Even as we left the radio station at different times to go on to our next venture, when we would see each other again it was like we hadn’t missed a beat. I truly appreciate the opportunity to have gotten the pleasure to meet and have him a part of my life.
