Cynthia “Cindy” Sue Ghere, 68, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away in the early morning hours of February 24th, 2022. Born on May 22,1953 in Hillsboro, Illinois to Clifford and Shirley (Martin) Ghere, Cindy was a special light in everyone’s life. She never met a stranger or forgot anyone’s birthday, and she loved to talk and tell stories. She overcame a lot throughout her life, and she made a habit of exceeding people’s expectations.
Cindy worked 12 years for shelter workshops before retiring to travel and spend time with family. Her love of travelling took her across much of the continental United States along with trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada. She also ventured to France, Monaco, Italy and Switzerland. Wherever she travelled, she enjoyed taking photos and collecting souvenirs.
Cindy took great pride in being an aunt to all her beloved nieces and nephews. Family was very important to her, and she enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with loved ones. She was also a very vocal and passionate sports fan. She rooted for Purdue University athletic teams, the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers, and Indiana Fever. Her loyalty to each of these teams ran very deep, as it wasn’t out of character for her to say, “Well, there’s always next year” after a tough season or loss.
Cindy savored the little things in life, like having a slice of pumpkin pie on the holidays and watching the ball drop in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. She sang often and was also known for tearing up the dance floor. Cindy was silly, loving, compassionate and brave. God truly blessed our family when he gave her to us. Her childlike joy of life will be greatly missed.
