Charles T. (Tom) Weidner, 62, of Frankfort, passed away at his home peacefully on April 6, 2013 after a brief illness. Born November 14, 1950 to Chas Weidner, Jr. and Eileen (Garrison) Weidner, he grew up in Mulberry, but lived the majority of his adult life in Frankfort. He formerly attended and was confirmed at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Mulberry. Tom was a 1968 graduate of Clinton Prairie High School and received an Associates Degree from Fort Wayne Business College. He married Ruth E. Underwood on June 2, 1971 in Frankfort. He served in the United States Air Force from September 1970 to August 1977 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Grand Forks, ND, Bitburg ABS, Germany, and Grissom AFB. Tom was a passionate, caring man with an undeniable work ethic. He was employed in the finance industry as an associate of Leavell & Bates from August 1977 to October 1993. He co-owned and operated Bruno’s Swiss Chalet, along side his wife of 41 years, from November 18, 1982 to November 9, 2003. He continued to carry on the legacy of Bruno’s, working part time since May 2004 for the new owners. Tom was an avid sports fan whose passions included playing golf, traveling and supporting his family in all their endeavors.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00pm on Wednesday, April 10 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11 at 11am, with his brother-in-law, John Moore, officiating. Tom will be laid to rest at Bunnell Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to Clinton County Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Underwood) Weidner of Frankfort, daughter Tanya Weidner of Frankfort, son Geoff (Stephanie) Weidner of Westfield, sister Roz (John) Moore of West Lafayette, brother Ted Weidner of West Lafayette, and two grandsons, Mason and Jack Weidner

He was always fun to talk with at Brunos and Tom and Ruth always treated Tyler great from the time we started bringing him to Brunos when he was tiny to now as an adult. He will be missed.     We are very sorry to hear about Tom’s passing. We love coming to Bruno, and eating, and enjoyed talking to you and your daughter.
    We sure miss Brunos, and was sorry to see you close up, we always came there with out son and daughter on New Years Eve, that was
    the way we would celebrate the holiday. He will be very miss and you and your family are in our prayers. We will be praying for your
    family in the next few days. If we lived there we would love to come by and see you both. We moved to Noblesville, about 3 years ago,
    and when come back sometimes be go to the new Brunos and get something to take back with us, but I’m sorry to say its good, but I

    Sorry to hear about Tom’s death. My condolences to your family. Even though it is a sad time always remember the wonderful times you had with him and keep those close to your heart. Don’t be surprised if sometime something will spur a memory and it makes you smile, those are so precious.

    Heart-felt condolences to the Family. My fondest memories go back to Pony League baseball in Mulberry, when Tom was starting pitcher, middle-relief and closer — every game. He was the best by far, and ALL we had.

    So sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. I don’t believe I had seen him since our school days at Mulberry & Clinton Prairie. Ruth, I do know what you are going through as my husband passed away two years ago. I don’t know if you remember me, but I was your P.E. teacher when you were in Jr. High. Sincerely, Marilyn

    For Roz & Ted. So sorry for your loss. Tom was a really great guy. Tom will be missed. Mom was not able to come to the funeral home. We will be praying for you guys and for Tom’s family too. Now he is with your mother and father and God. He will have no more pain and suffering. Just keep all of his memories with you and you will always have him with you all. Again sorry for the loss.
