Carroll E. Henderson, 83, of Kokomo, Ind., died December 16, 2019 at Wesley Manor. He was born January 19, 1936 in Frankfort, Ind. to the late Clyde Elden & Ruth Vivian (Walker) Henderson. He met the love of his life, Phyllis Ann Dearth on a Greyhound bus trip from Frankfort to Purdue in Lafayette. About 2 years later they were married at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Frankfort on August 26, 1956 and she survives.
Mr. Henderson was a 1953 graduate of Jackson Township High School, Clinton County and received his Associates Degree from Purdue University. Carroll worked as a freight agent for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, retiring on December 10, 1997 after 42 years. Following retirement, he worked for Kokomo Schools as a media clerk. He was a member of the Mainstreet United Methodist Church in Kokomo and sang in the choir. He enjoyed traveling with family, Kokomo Wildkat basketball games, genealogy, ran in mini marathons throughout his life and was a Kokomo High School enthusiast. Carroll was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. While he devoted his life to his wife of 63 years, he always found a way to encourage anyone with whom he came in contact. He will be missed by many.

We only got to know Carroll and Phyllis a few years ago. Floyd and Carroll sang together in the Kokomo Main St. choir. Phyllis and I were in the same UMW’s Circle at Main St. We enjoyed their company attending some musical programs.
He was a very caring man. God bless the family.

Facebook Twitter GoogleDearest Phyllis and Precious Family, was sadden to receive the call about the passing of Carroll. Fond memories flood my thoughts of our Family Christmas Dinners. One of those Christmas Dinners we were at Aunt Betty Wilson’s home. Gathered around the Christmas tree. A gift was nearly wrapped with the Name Carole on the tag. It was handed to Carroll. Aunt Betty quickly intercepted the gift as it was a Coloring book for me.. Carroll always had his warm friendly smile ready at all times. My heart goes out to you Phyllis, your Daughters and Families.
May God wrap His Loving arms of Comfort around each of you now and in the days ahead.
Lovingly,
Cousin

Facebook Twitter GoogleI just now saw that Carroll had passed away in December. I worked for the N&W from 1970 to 1973 a year and a half spent at the Kokomo Buckeye St. yard office. Carroll was one of the guys who helped me learn the ropes so to speak. I will always remember his always good advice. Many thanks to Carroll.
