Brett Alan Eaton, 70 of rural Kirklin, died peacefully, surrounded by family at home on June 4, 2024.  He was born August 25, 1953 in Wakarusa, IN to the late Nelson C. and Billie (Mitchell) Eaton.  He was formerly married to Lana Sprague.  In 1991, he married Lizabeth “Ticky” Ehresman in Lafayette, Ind. and they had 32 years together.

Brett went to high school in Warsaw, Ind. and graduated in 1971.  He then graduated from I.U. with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. After college he built log cabins and played keyboard in various bands.  He played in a band called “Perfect Blend” professionally for a few years before deciding to return to medical school.  He then received his medical degree from I.U. in 1985 and began his family medicine practice in Frankfort, IN.  His greatest joy was delivering babies, for a total of 1012 babies during his 34 years of practice. He was proud that he remained an independent family practitioner and had a great nurse, Pam, for all those years. He was also director of Clinton House Nursing Home for 24 years.  Following his retirement in 2019, which was very hard since he loved his patients and staff, he continued to work at Southern Care Hospice until recently.  Throughout his life, he had a passion for flying since the age of 17, working at a drugstore to pay for his lessons.  He purchased a Mooney 201 and had many adventures. His best friend Jim Gordon and he flew to many destinations.  Brett loved being outdoors, hiking, camping, scuba diving and spending time with family, boating and fishing with his sons and watching grandchildren’s sporting activities.  Brett was a jack of all trades and could solve any problem.  He will be remembered for always thinking of others before himself.

Visitation and Services

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5-7 p.m. June 26, 2024 at Arborwood by Shoup’s, 100 N. Park Dr., Frankfort, IN 46041. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Youth Learn to Fly Fund, c/o Lizabeth Eaton, P.O. Box 2, Kirklin, IN 46050.

    The world gained a real angel. Thank you for the care you had given my family all for 30 yrs. He delivered my two children and took care of them. Maybe you will be one of the angel guides that watches over all our babies you delivered. Much love and my condolences to the family.

    So sorry for your loss. Dr. Eaton was a awesome man. He was my doctor for pretty much my whole life. He helped me through a lot of hard times in my life. He will truly be missed. Fly high doc.

    Brett Eaton was my family doctor for many years, I’m proud to say that I was the first one those 1012 babies he delivered, when he retired from his family practice he showed me the framed photo of it and he and Pam took another photo of us together at his retirement for a before and after. He helped my family through so many health issues even during financial hardship, and was a good friend. He will be loved and missed by many.

    Dr. Eaton was a great addition to Clinton House staff. I have fond memories of his knowledge and of course his humor. Will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to Ticky and family.

    I am truly saddened by Brett’s passing. He was my doctor for many years up until cancer caused his early retirement. I also considered him a friend. He loved to talk to his patients about whatever was on their minds. I loved everyone in that office, we were made to feel welcome. A wonderful angel is looking over us all now. Fly high Doc!

    So very sad. Dr Eaton was the best. His retirement was good for him but for his patients was sad. He wasn’t just a doctor, he was a friend. He left an impact on many people. Kind and caring. RIP Dr. Eaton. You will be greatly missed. To his family and friends, my prayers go up for you all.

    Ticky, I’m so sad to read of Dr. Eaton’s passing. He was always one of my favorites to work with! It was obvious how much he cared for his patients, and that was a true gift he shared with one and all. I’ll never forget how he would tap dance on the floor covers after delivery and turn that dance into an effort to help us clean up before he left. He was truly one of a kind, and we were all blessed to have known such a man who showed us how to live and love people.
    Thanks for sharing him with us! I’ll be praying for you!

    Words can not express my sadness of Docs passing. Our relationship began as a patient/doctor and by itself evolved into a friendship. He was my sounding board after his retirement for medical issues I was experiencing. He even helped me locate a new Doctor upon his retirement. It was great to see him several years at my annual Boys in the Backyard Campout. We both enjoyed hiking, backpacking and camping and bike riding. Basically anything out doors. Ticky, my heart felt sympathy goes out to you and family. We all wish it could be different but our time is limited. I’m so happy that Brett and I connected. He will be a void in my life as so many others. But our time together was wonderful. What a great person Brett was…..

    Such a sad time. What a wonderful human. Full of kindness, humor and compassion. I loved working with him. As a small child, my middle son painted my kitchen cabinets. He thought was hysterical! He would do sports physicals and always ask my boys “are you the one who painted the cabinets?” He will forever be missed. Rest in Peace my friend.

    He was a one of a kind physician. I had the pleasure of working with him at St. Vincent. He was also our family physician the last few years until he retired. Prayers for all of you and your family during this difficult time.

    So sorry to hear this. I was a nurse in the OB department at the hospital; and worked with Brett for many years. He was a great doctor, a good man, and a wonderful friend. He was my favorite doctor to work with, and I worked with many throughout my years in different hospitals. Now he is ” flying” up above looking out for all of us.

    Sorry for your loss He was a great man. He rode with me in an ambulance to Indianapolis when I had problems carrying my baby. All the staff comments was first time a doctor came all the way with his patient. I also remember me and him having a talk about my son that I lost his name was Noah Seth Brown it tugged at his heart and he told me he also had boys with that name. He was a great help to me after losing 2 children I will never forget him.

    Truly a great man and doctor. He always had that grin on him to ease the pain. I would say he was the best doctor in Clinton county for year’s and you could see the sadness in his eyes when he had to retire. You will never be forgotten Doc… I’m sure your wings are larger now ….we all loved you…RIP DOC

    So sorry to see this. Loved talking airplanes with Brett. I was at the window when he came to the hospital nursery with our second granddaughter. He motioned her weight to me when he got her on the scale. Memories to cherish. Hugs and prayers for your family. Such a great guy. He will be missed by many.

    RIP Dr. Eaton. He was my doctor for 26 years. He delivered my son. I cried on his shoulder many times. He was a wonderful man. He set the bar high. I was truly blessed to have him as a doctor for so many years.

    He was a great friend who helped so many people during his life on earth. I know I will see him again one day in heaven. I take comfort in knowing that. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He had a wonderful life with my dear friend Ticky.

    Was devastated to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful doctor and awesome friend to me. Very caring and always had time to listen. I’ve missed him since he left his practice and his nurse Pam also. He will be forever missed by me and my family.

    So sorry to hear this! Dr. Eaton was such a caring person. I enjoyed working with him many years at the hospital assisting with many of his deliveries. He was so kind and supportive when my mother had cancer and made sure I had all the medication and other supplies I needed to care for her at home. I will never forget the concern and support he gave me. He was a pleasure to work around and was always very kind to his patients and was always nice to the nurses!!! Saying he could not do his job without us!!! Amazing man. So sorry Ticky and families

    I will always remember Brett for his kindness and ability to help other people through their times of need. Ticky and I have been best friends since we met back in the late 1980’s working in Sebastian Fl. We have shared vacationing together and their many great visits to Florida.

    He was a great man and friend, and I will miss him deeply. Rest in peace my friend. I love you dearly.

    Dr. Eaton was my family’s doctor when we moved to Frankfort. Upon learning of his retirement, I wrote a thank-you letter to him on behalf of my family for the care he provided through the years. Dr. Eaton was a compassionate and caring doctor who provided excellent care. He will be missed.

    I was saddened to hear the news of Dr. Eaton’s passing. Even though he had not been my doctor for many years, he was my doctor when I was younger and delivered my child. I will always think fondly of him. My thoughts are with you as you navigate your lives now without him. He will be missed I am sure.

    I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was always so kind to me when Noah and I used to visit his house. He was also very encouraging to me back when I was first accepted into med school and was a great example for how a doctor should practice and be involved in his community.
