Bernice A. Krolczyk, 96, of Colfax, Ind., died January 23, 2022 at her home.  She was born August 23, 1925 in Cook County, Ill. to John & Anna (Kubas) Rybarczyk.  Her first marriage was to Harold Nail.  She then married Bolesuas “Bill” Krolczyk in 1961 in Chicago, Ill. and he preceded her in death.

Bernice moved to Clinton County in 1961 from Chicago.  She was a longtime manager of Miller’s Restaurant in Colfax, had worked at Frito Lay, Pepes and ran “Shirley’s” Duck in Diner on 52. Bernice enjoyed fishing, crocheting, gardening, birds, cooking and baking, but most of all she loved taking care of her children, grandchildren and all those who called her Gram.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 1-3 pm. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survived by:

2 Daughters: Judith Rice of Colfax, Willi (Rodney) Kanienski of Colfax, 2 Sons: Michael Nail of Colfax, Robert (Pam) Nail of Colfax, 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren

Preceded by:

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Russell, 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

    My sincerest condolences and love sent to the family. Let it be a comfort to you to know how loved Auntie Bernice was to so many.     Willi, Judy, Michael, Bobby….What a giving, loving, wonderful mother you all had! So many great memories I have of all of us together laughing and having so much fun back in the day! When she always took care of all of us at the restaurant and made sure we were all safe! How she always made me rhubarb crunch and couldn’t stop eating it until it made me ill…. She will always have a place in my heart and soul and I will never forget her! Truly a gem! Miss those good old days when we were all having so much fun and had the world by the rear and didn’t even know it! Peace and Love to the family! My deepest condolences!

    I will always keep my memories of Bernice in my heart. I’ve loved her beautiful personality from the day one. I will truly miss my Christmas card each year from her.
