Alvin Leroy Whiteman Sr. 72, of Frankfort, IN, died at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital. Born September 18, 1939 in Frankfort, IN to Alfred L. & Freida W. (Laughner) Whiteman. He married Lynn A. (Reecer) Tarkington on November 4, 2000 in Frankfort and she survives. Mr. Whiteman was a graduate of Forest High School and Ivy Tech. A Seabee in the U.S. Navy, he served from July 1957 to September 1960 in Bermuda and from 1960-1964 was a fireman in Bermuda. Mr. Whiteman returned to Frankfort in 1973. He worked at Sonoco Crellin in Frankfort for 30 years, retiring in October of 2003. Mr. Whiteman held a private pilot license, was an avid golfer, loved to cook, travel, especially visiting the ocean in Florida. He was of the Methodist Faith. A member of the Eagles Lodge, Frankfort, member and past Governor of the Moose Lodge, Frankfort and had the honor of being a Moose “Fellow”.

Visitation and Services

All friends are welcome to a celebration of life honoring Al, which will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27th at the Frankfort Moose Lodge #7, 2880 E Wabash St., Frankfort. Private family funeral services will be held. Burial with military rites will be in Whiteman Cemetery, Michigantown, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to the Moose Lodge. Envelopes will be available.

Bousum (husband Josh) of Kokomo Step Son: Chris Tarkington of Michigantown 3 Sisters: Patricia Fausett (husband Herb) of Kokomo, Margaret Troutner (husband Harold) of North Liberty and Sandra Ostler (husband Jerry) of Frankfort 1 Brother: Paul Whiteman (wife Agnes) of Ellettsville 3 Grandchildren, Jordon Bousum and Riley & Conner Tarkington 3 Great Grandchildren, Lawrence Southern and Quinten & Allie Drew Special Uncle: Alvin Laughner of Kokomo

    It’s still hard to believe. I don’t know how he done it but he sent me a Birthday Wish! Very special to have got it. He’s a great guy and will be missed alot. Bless you all.
