  8. Gregory Finch July 23, 2019 at 7:23 am

I was a student of my favorite teacher of all time, Mr. Pullen, when he passed away, and I first met Aileen at his funeral service. But I knew Kathy from grade school and in later years, while we were in college and she dated my roommate. I would always stop by Aileen’s desk at the Farmer’s Bank from time-to-time, and she was always so very nice and wonderful to speak with. She loved her children, was so very proud of all of them and when I told her I was going to Purdue to study agriculture, she gave me a big hug and a hoot right in the lobby of the bank. My thoughts and prayers are with the Pullen and Young families, and for my remembrances of Mr. Pullen, Aileen, Greg and Garry, too.

    • Karen Pullen Chandras August 2, 2019 at 3:44 pm

      Dear Gregory,
It was wonderful to read your condolence and your memories of the Pullen/Young family. You are absolutely right, mom was a huge Purdue fan and gave her support immediately to those who agreed with her. She had tremendous fun watching the games and Holiday concerts.
      Thank you,
      Karen Pullen Chandras

  11. Paul W. Huddleston July 24, 2019 at 1:15 am

Greg, My heart goes out to you and your family for the loss of your dear mother. When one is as remarkable as Aileen was, her passing is all the more painful. Remember all the times when she showed you how much she loved you and how proud she was of you. Hold on to the ideals that she guided you to. Aileen has not ceased to exist. Her soul lives on and “BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO DIE IN THE LORD FROM NOW ON. YES, SAYS THE SPIRIT, THEY ARE BLESSED INDEED, FOR THEY WILL REST FROM THEIR HARD WORK; FOR THEIR GOOD DEEDS FOLLOW THEM!” (Rev 14:13 [NLT]). I join you in mourning you mom’s passing, but we can find joy in knowing she is looking forward to seeing her family in Heaven where she is already in the presence of Jesus, resting from her hard work and enjoying the eternal fruits of her earthly labor. Claudia and I have been, and will continue remembering you in our prayers.

    • Karen Pullen Chandras August 2, 2019 at 4:00 pm

      Dear Pastor Walt,
Mom’s homecoming was special and vividly shared in her final hours before her passing. Mom was prepared for her journey, had spoken to her siblings, children, and many grandchildren. Karen, Gerald, Kathy, and Glenn were present and with her spiritually as she spent her final moments with us. We supported her and encouraged her to “go in peace”, reaching her crossing with those waiting for her at 2:40pm on 7/13/19.

We appreciate receiving your thoughts and condolence.

      Our best to you,
Karen Pullen Chandras and the Family of Aileen Young
