Abigail Suzanne Pierce, 19, of Frankfort, died March 25, 2020 at the I.U. Health Hospital, Frankfort, Ind. She was born December 25, 2000 to Edward “Jay” & Lisa (Douglas) Pierce.
In 2019 Abigail graduated with an Honor’s Diploma from Frankfort High School. She was a four-year letter winner in tennis earning 1st Team All-Conference for two years. She received the award for Best Season Record for two years while helping the team earn a Sagamore Conference title, the first in 15 years. She was also a letter winner in swimming and boy’s tennis manager. Abby was a peer tutor, active in Best Buddies and member of Euvola. She was currently a freshman at Purdue University majoring Human Resources and also a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She would have been a Peer Mentor for Purdue’s Summer Start program this summer.
Abby was a faithful friend to many. Her fun-loving nature and sense of humor made her home and dorm room the gathering spot. She shared her joy and lived life to the fullest. Abby loved her family having a special bond with her sister and was definitely a daddy’s girl. Trips to Disney World were a favorite family activity especially when cousins, Charlotte, Jackson and Ella joined. Her cats, Hazel and Piper, held a special place in her heart.

Facebook Twitter GoogleI met Abby during our time at Purdue in the summer. She was always making me laugh and always knew how to put a smile on all of our faces during class. Her energy was radiant and so was her smile. This past semester at Purdue is when we got super close. We all lived together in Harrison Hall. Every night we were there we had girls night in one of our rooms. Abby was the one that constantly made us all laugh, we would all stay up so late just laughing, and talking. Those were definitely the best memories I shared with Abby, and the highlight of my freshman year. Abby was such a great friend, she was always there for all of us, always checking in on all of us and cheering us all on. I vividly remember being in Abby’s room when she got her bid from Pi phi, and I had never seen her smile so big and seen her so happy. I will miss her sweet smile, I will miss her making us all laugh uncontrollably and I will miss all the great times we shared. Praying for the entire Pierce family and sending hugs and love from a far. She will be missed beyond measures.

Facebook Twitter GoogleDear Lisa and Libby and all other loved ones,
I simply cannot express to you how very sad and sorry I am that Abby is gone. She was always one of my favorite students, and I most sincerely treasured the close relationship that we had. She will stay close to my heart until I see her again. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to ease your pain. I will be praying for all of us. Attached is a poem that I wrote shortly after I heard of Abby’s death; I poured my heart and my grief into it. I most humbly submit that maybe it will help a little with your grief as well. I will be dropping off a framed copy at some point.
With Love,
Brenda Loveless
Abby
My heart is heavy and my spirits low, and my life is much less bright,
And the world is darker and not nearly so joyful
Because it is missing one shining light.
A wonderful girl so fun and full of life, and always ready with her gorgeous smile.
I know that Heaven is shining brightly, completely dazzled Abby-style!
Although my heart knows that Abby is safe, and looking down safely from above,
The pain that I’m feeling cannot be soothed, for she was just so very loved.
So now I must endeavor to be the best I can, so that someday I may see her once more.
For I know that her joyful enthusiasm will be greeting me at Heaven’s door.
Thank you, God, so very much, for allowing one of your angels on Earth to bless.
But please, dear Lord, take pity on us, who must persevere in the face of such distress.
And Abby as you look down on us all, please know that we love you so much,
And you have left a hole that can only be filled, when we once again can feel your touch.
Dear Lord please enjoy Abby’s brilliant sparkle and shine, and keep her near to You,
For when I get to Heaven, I promise that is exactly what I mean to do.
Written by Brenda Loveless expressly for one of my favorite students who I loved like she was my own. I promise I will see you again to tell you just how much you meant to me.
