Jackie L. Burgin, 69, and Shirley (Horn) Burgin, 66, both of Frankfort, died Saturday, July 3, 2021, along with their beloved dog: Snowball, as a result of an automobile accident. Jackie was born on November 18, 1951 in Frankfort to Jack and Mary (Myers) Burgin. Shirley was born on October 19, 1954 in Frankfort to Omer Horn Jr. and Gladys Fern (Robbins) Horn. They were married on October 21, 1972 in Tennessee.
Jackie was a 1970 graduate of Clinton Central High School. He worked for Exide Battery in Frankfort for 28 years, Firestone for 12 years, and retired from CNH in Lebanon. He loved fishing and was a member of the County Line Fishing Club. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, target practicing, and growing anything from seed – currently a mango tree.
Shirley was a 1972 graduate of Thorntown High School. She worked for Rescare for 5 years and raised pigs. She enjoyed gardening, cooking – she loved buying new cooking tools, and she was known to always rearrange the house.
Jackie and Shirley’s greatest joy were their grandchildren and watching their sporting events.
Memorial donations may be made in Jackie and Shirley’s honor to Special Olympics Indiana, 6200 Technology Center Rd., Suite 105, Indianapolis, IN 46278 or Sunshine Kennels, 6242 North County Rd. 300 East, Frankfort, IN 46041.
Visitation and Services
Friends and Family are welcome 10 a.m. – 12 Noon on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12 Noon Friday at the funeral home.

Surviving are their Son: Michael Burgin of Crawfordsville; Daughters: Michelle Burgin of Frankfort and Mary (Ray) Cross of Sheridan; Jackie’s Sisters: Evelyn (Ivan) Lawson of Arkansas and Elizabeth (Dan) Day of Indianapolis; Jackie’s Brothers: Jerry Burgin of Montana and Johnny (Janice) Burgin of Frankfort; Shirley’s Sisters: Elaine (Terrie) Johnston-Horn of Utah and Diane (Charlie) Young of Kentucky; and Grandchildren: Peyton, Nova, and Gavin Cross.

They were preceded in death by their parents, Jackie’s brother: Joseph Burgin, and Shirley’s brothers: Marty and Jim Horn.
