George A. Evans, 63, of rural Kirklin, died July 22, 2024 at his home.  He was born March 31, 1961 in Frankfort, Ind. to Charles Evans and Dorothy (Hubert) Koppelmann.  He married Beth Evans on September 18, 1993 in Kirklin and she survives.

George was a 1979 graduate of Clinton Central and received his Associates degree in Electrical Engineering from ITT in Indianapolis.  He was a fork truck driver, working for Hendrickson in Lebanon for 25 years and had also worked at Exide Battery in Frankfort for 20 years.  A lifelong resident of Clinton County, he was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Kirklin.  George enjoyed fishing, gardening, shooting guns, drag racing, golfing and playing cards.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 26th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin. Memorial donations may be made to the Kirklin American Legion, P.O. Box 217, Kirklin, IN 46050

Survived by:

Wife: Beth Evans of rural Kirklin, Sons: Colton Evans of Kirklin, Reece Evans of Kirklin, Brother: David (Deb) Evans of Kirklin, Sisters: Diana Moore of Kirklin, Kathy (Kenny Waters) Crick of Kirklin, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded by:

parents, stepfather, George Koppelmann, father and mother in-law, Kenny Evans & Joyce Evans, 3 brothers-in-law, Dalton Moore, Clet Crick and Mike Evans, 4 nephews, Joe Moore, Jaden Quick, Skylar Evans and Carson Perry.

    I worked with George for a lot of years at Hendrickson. I could always rely on him for help and advise. I really appreciated him the last few months because he was my backup when I was on vacation or had to cover another department. But I will miss him not just as a coworker but because when we talked it was about what we are going to do outside of work. He always made me laugh and the days where easier when he was around. Thank you George.

    I have worked with George a lot of years at Hendrickson and I will miss him. He was always willing to help me out or give some advice. The last few months I really relyed on him as my backup, which is crazy because he probably forgot more than I will know about aftermarket. More sad is the way we talk to each other about what he was going to do when he wasn’t working, and make me laugh. Having him around just made the day better. I will miss you.

    I worked with George for 25 years. He was a great coworker who went above and beyond to help me out. I will miss him. My condolences to his wife and sons. My prayers are with you.

    I worked with George for a relatively brief time at Hendricks, he was one of my trainers. In that time though I enjoyed getting to know him. He was a good trainer, a friendly, thoughtful and funny person. I am grateful to have known him and it shocked and sadden me to hear of him passing. My prayers and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. He will be missed.

    So sorry to hear about George’s passing. We were classmates at Michigantown Elementary and then at Clinton Central. We played a lot as kids. He will be missed.

    I had the pleasure of working with George for 25 years. He was a great guy and a wonderful coworker. He will be missed by many at Hendrickson, myself especially. He had such a great sense of humor and we shared many laughs. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. God bless you George and thank you for all the laughs especially on those rough days!

    George was my first trainer, when I moved from assembly to Aftermarket. He definitely knew his stuff. I worked with him for 5 years and he always liked talking about his fishing trips. He will be missed. Prayers for his wife and sons.
