I would like to share my deepest condolences for Garret’s family, and friends. Garret was always full of love and laughter. He had a big hug for everybody and made you feel good. Remembering silly stuff we used to do at Indy Pride or Chicago. You are gone too soon but will never be forgotten.

I have so many fond memories of Garret. The softball diamond, at the family home and all the Super Bowl parties. My heart breaks for all of you. I can just picture him and Micki talking over a shot of tequila!!! I always thought of him as a little brother but then we grow older and do our own things but he will always have a special place in my heart. The whole family does.

  15. Janet Pastorius February 27, 2024 at 5:15 pm

I don’t think I’ve seen Garret since he was at Butler, but we’ve kept in contact via Facebook over the years. He had a truly unique personality, and I enjoyed having him as a student (even when we got on each other’s last nerve). I will miss his posts and hearing his views on issues. You never had any doubt where he stood. The world seems different, and not in a good way, because he is no longer in it. My deepest sympathies go out to his dad, Mitchell, and other family and friends during this difficult time. Janet Pastorius

I am very sorry for the loss felt by his family and his many friends. We were not super close friends but friends for sure and Garret always made me smile and feel good to be around him. Even if he was having a not so great day, as sometimes I’d run into him at work, or after a long work day he turned it around and would not bring others down and put on a smile. Garret was always very friendly to me every single time I saw him. I liked when he’d call me honey. I reached out to him a few months back to encourage him etc. I didn’t see him as much after I moved from Indy and only saw him a few times in Chicago. Always considered him a strong person and of strong character. He could be very sweet and funny and always full of life and energy when I got to see him. A true loss to society in general. Gone too soon. Rest in peace my friend.

Brad, My thoughts and prayers for you and all your family as this is a very big hole to fill in your hearts. I would always joke to him about 31 flavors of ice cream. I’m just a phone call away from anything you need. RIP Garret.

Sorry to hear Garrett passed he was a great guy. I worked with him at Donaldson’s.

  25. Mark Parker March 1, 2024 at 8:19 pm

Garret could always make me laugh with his cynical yet silly sense of humor. Although we did not see each other frequently, when we did get together; it was as if no time had passed. The hallmark of true friends. I am truly grateful for the time we had. My deepest condolences to you all.

  26. Gregory Darnell March 3, 2024 at 3:35 pm

Garrett had a way of making the people around him laugh with ease, a trait some of us spend a lifetime to emulate. For Garett, it was second-nature, effortless, and as easy as smiling. He will truly be missed.

  29. Travis J Buick April 6, 2024 at 9:46 am

Words can’t express how very sorry I am for Garrett’s relatives and all of his friends! He was far too young to be taken from us so soon! Was so fun, smart, witty and always full of love and positive energy that was contagious to anyone around him! He meant more and was worth way more to everyone around him than he ever realized or believed that he was! I will miss him so much!

  30. Justin E Cerrato April 6, 2024 at 9:14 pm

    To Crenshaw family,

I’d like to offer my condolences. I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Garrett. I was the one Garrett moved in with when covid first started and he stayed with me on another two years. Unfortunately we had a bit of a falling out and didn’t speak much afterwards because of something I was told. I regret to say that I fed into the drama and believed what I heard over believing Garrett. I eventually came to the realization that he didn’t do what I was being told, but I never got a chance to tell him that. It’s something that is heavy on me because he was like family to me and I only wish that I could have never allowed myself to get caught up in that moment yes and perhaps I would have been able to be there for him and let him know how much I truly cared about him. Can you send me that will be deeply missed and will always be loved. I hope that your family is able to find some peace knowing that he is in a better place now, and he won’t have to suffer anymore. He was a good man that was taken for too soon.

    Take care
    Justin Cerrato

    I am so sorry.

You may not remember me and that’s to be expected but I was Garret’s roommate and coworker in 07-08. I was thinking of him today, 8-9-24, for after not talking for 10+ years. Not sure why but it led me here.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. He was a good friend and brought me a lot of joy.
