James F. Tarkington, 79, of Frankfort, died May 20, 2023 at his home. He was born November 6, 1943 in Kokomo, Ind. to Ralph C. & Mary Florence (Parks) Tarkington. He married Joan C. Calloway on January 16, 1965 in Burlington, Ind. and she survives.
Jim was a 1962 graduate of Carroll High School and a 1994 graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. Degree. He owned JT Building & Remodeling, Frankfort Glass and then Town & Country Class in Frankfort. He was a founding member and very active in the Community Christian Church and a former member of the Frankfort Jaycees. Jim enjoyed riding his bicycle.
Visitation and Services
Visitation will be 10 am.-12 Noon Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Community Christian Church, 1944 S. Jackson St., Frankfort. The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon at the church. Mike Whitacre will officiate. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Christian Church.

Tarkington of Frankfort, Joshua Aaron Tarkington of Michigantown, 2 Brothers: Rodger L. (Wanda) Tarkington of rural Frankfort, William B. (Evelyn) Tarkington of Boswell, Ind., 5 Grandchildren: Alisha, Ashley, Triston, Trenton and Noah, 3 Great-Grandchildren: Ava Wylie, Channing Wylie and Ayden Spaulding.

He was a great guy.
