Ronald L. Sink, 76, a longtime Clinton County resident, died February 5, 2022 at his home in Indianapolis.  He was born February 23, 1946 in Clinton County to the late Carl W. & J. Lois (King) Sink.

Ron attended Sugar Creek School and was a 1964 graduate of Clinton Central High School.  He graduated from Purdue University in 1969 with his Master’s degree in education. He was an elementary teacher for the Community Schools of Frankfort, teaching at Lincoln, Riley and Suncrest for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Kirklin Christian Church.  Ron was an avid reader, gave dance lessons in Frankfort, loved his dogs and enjoyed spending time with his nephews and niece.

Visitation and Services

Family services will be held. Inurnment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Frankfort Education Foundation, 2400 E. Wabash St., Frankfort, IN 46041.

2 brothers: Donald R. (Alice) Sink of rural Rockville, Ind. and Steven L. (Sheila) Sink of rural Kirklin, Ind., nephews: Joe (Christy) Staggs of Rosedale, Ind. and Todd (Casey) Sink of College Station, TX, and niece: Juanita (Lance) Padgett of Kirklin, Ind.

    The years I spent working in schools allowed me to make friends who helped me do my job better. Ron was at the top of that list. He was the kind of person who stood beside you not behind when problems needed solving. Made my job easier and improved my awareness of life. Gone too soon. Not to be forgotten.

    He was my favorite teacher. I had him for 5th grade at Woodside. First year that I never missed a day of school. I really don’t know what was so special about him but I loved coming to school that year. I am so sorry to hear this.

    This news makes my heart sad. But also brings back so many great memories. I will never forget his laugh! For years I wore little gold bracelets because Ron did and they looked so cool. RIP Ron. You were cherished.

    Condolences to Ron’s family. Please know your brother/brother-in-law/uncle was a powerfully positive influence in so many of our lives. His spirit will live on within us. Fond memory—Ron teaching my mom, Maribelle Cole, and Linda Ryan to do The Hustle in our family room. There was far more laughter than dancing going on that night.

    I also had “Mr. Sink” as a 5th-grade teacher at Woodside. He struck me as the most interesting teacher I ever had — he was an excellent educator. Later, as I had the privilege of getting to know him socially, I realized my very high impression of him as my teacher fell short: he was genuinely decent, kind, funny, and introduced me to Cat Stevens. ‘Nough said. Ron: I’m grateful to you for playing a formative role in my life. Be well, friend: Morning Has Broken.

    I’m saddened to read of Ron’s passing. Ron was the kind of teacher who was always going the extra mile. He put his students’ needs first while making learning fun. My mother, Ruth Valley, who taught with Ron at Lincoln & Woodside, described him as a truly dedicated educator. At my basement, tornado warning wedding, Ron told me ‘Nobody’s ever going to forget this one!’

    Don and Steve: Cathy and I were very sad to hear of Ron’s passing. We really enjoyed seeing the picture of you guys together a while back. We had not seen Ron for several years. We remember all of the good times when we were in school. Don, maybe we should go to the Georgia mountains to see our friend while we still can. We will talk with you later.

    I am so sorry for your loss of Ronnie. I remember the good old days when we had Easter breakfast an egg hunt before going to Easter services. And all of us always sitting in the backseat at church. Steve was probably too young to remember but they are such good memories.

I have good memories of riding together one summer to Indy to work during our college years. He was so much fun. We grew up together as neighbors and fellow Sugar Creek chipper crickets.     From church camp to high school graduation there are many wonderful memories of “The Sink Twins”. Don and Steve – so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. He was a great guy loved by many. And I’ve heard many say what a great teacher he was.

    Mr. Sink was 5th grade teacher. He was always so funny, kind, and offered amazing advice, even into my adulthood. What he gave to the community was amazing and he will be sadly missed!!!!

    So very sad to hear the news of Ron’s passing. My first time being a teacher’s aid, I lucked out and got to work for a great guy, Ron Sink! He made my day every day, best memory, teaching 5th graders how to dance in gym class! I lived for that day every week, he was a great dancer, and I enjoyed it so much! He always made you feel special, and that you helped make a difference, but it was Ron who was special and made a huge difference in children’s lives! Keep Dancing my friend, I will never forget those great days.

    Oh… Mr. Sink!!!! You always made me feel so special in fifth grade at Riley!!! I was such an ugly duckling and awkward that year. You gave us all nicknames and I was the “apple of your eye”, hence Appleby. YOU made such an impact in my life as I chose teaching as my career, my passion, because of YOU and several other amazing educators in Frankfort. The memories of laughing, disco dancing in the gym for PE and visiting again later in years will be in my heart forever. RIP my friend! Clogs forever

    Mr. Sink is an amazing teacher and is part of the reason that I’ve become the person I am today. He made me think I was a great student, a worthwhile person, and worthy of positive attention. I’ve wanted to find him to tell him of his impact on me. He is the reason teaching is a noble profession. Thank you Mr. Sink for recognizing me.

    I just heard of Ron’s passing from my brother, Marty Brunes. Ron was actually a second cousin to me but I thought the world of him! He was funny and upbeat and the epitome of cool, because he was intelligent and could discuss almost any topic. As a kid at family reunions I was always drawn to him. He was great at listening to kids. He was only about 13ish years older than I am, and so, later when I was in my mid twenties we actually got a chance to, “ go clubbing, “ a few times together! He was so much fun and people are right he could dance! After I got married and had children we kind of lost touch, but I ALWAYS ALWAYS have to smile when I think of Ron. The gift of a smile cousin Ron, that is how I will remember you. Catch you on the flip side.

    Don and family. After reading the many condolences from friends, family and students, I’m so pleased that Ron was loved and admired by so many. Throughout high school he was a friend to all, so friendly and so funny. The summer after graduation, he would come to my house on Saturday afternoons, we’d hop into my shiny new ‘64 Chevy Super Sport convertible, put the top down and cruise up to Indiana Beach where we’d dance all evening to the Rolling Stones ‘Brown Sugar’ and oh so many other cool songs of that time. He was a terrific dancer with lots of energy and always with a smile on his face. I’ll never forget those fun summer nights dancing with my pal, Ronnie! He will be missed! My condolences and sympathy.

    I just learned about Ron passing away after I started investigating why he wasn’t answering his phone or returning messages … what a great loss. Some of my favorite memories were going to ND-Purdue football games together, tailgating with Ron’s family when “the game” was at Purdue, and with my family when at ND. I also have fond memories of going to the Indians State Fair to see the livestock being shown by his family members, watch the horse shows, and enjoy eating some pork tenderloin. Family, friends and students (as well as his dogs) were very important to Ron. Ron, his family, his caregiver, and all his loved ones are in my prayers.

    I have been Ron’s caregiver for the last 5-6 years. I spoke to him daily about all things life. He evolved into being my best and most trusted friend. He had so many comical aspects to his character. I realized once after going on a date with a lady from a dating app, how highly people thought of him when she mentioned she was from Frankfort. I told her “that’s where my friend Ron who I take care of is from.” She asked if his last name was Sink. When I said yes she excitedly erupted, “Omg I loved Mr. Sink! He was my favorite teacher! How is he!?!? ” I told her he was only about a mile from where we were. I said if you want we can go there so you can say hi. She asked, “Do you mind? Can we??” So she followed me and she and he talked for 45 minutes. And that was pretty much the summary of my date. Lol
    I miss him terribly.

    Mr. Sink was a teacher who sincerely cared about his students and I was lucky enough to be one of those students. He pushed me when I was underachieving, challenged me when I was overachieving, and encouraged me when I needed it most. I truly loved him and am so sad to hear of his passing. I am praying for his family and loved ones. He was such a gift.

    Mr. Sink was one of those teachers that you never forget and he definitely left his mark on every student that he taught. I was lucky enough to have had him for social studies and math in 5th grade at Riley. He made learning fun and always teased me (in a fun way). He was an amazing teacher and you could certainly tell that he loved his job and his students. He introduced us to the “States and Capitals Rap by Professor Rap,” and I still remember that song to this day. He is someone that I have never forgotten over the years and wished that I had gotten a chance to see him again and thank him for impacting my life and the lives of many others. He will certainly be missed and I am so sorry for his family/friends loss. He was one in a million and I have many wonderful memories of him and I will certainly cherish those memories. Continued prayers.

    P.S: I am a teacher and he is definitely one of the reasons why I became a teacher. So, thank you Mr. Sink.

    So sorry to hear about Ron passing. I have known Ron since 2004. We worked together at Lawrence Township. He has come to my house and my mom’s for many cookouts and dinners. My mom treated him like one of her own. I would get coworkers together every three months for dinners. He was a great friend, he will be missed. Sympathy goes out to his family.

    I have been looking for information about Ron for some time. He and I lived in the same apartment building and taught at the same elementary school in 1971. I was a new teacher and from Fort Wayne. I didn’t know a soul in Frankfort. Ron became a good friend and an amazing mentor. I loved him with all my heart. He was an outstanding teacher with a crack up sense of humor and a heart of gold. I got married in ‘77 and moved to Illinois. We stayed in touch for many years but then we lost touch. I’m relieved to know he is home and at peace. Love you always Ron.
