I worked with him briefly at the census. Whenever I saw him around town the next few years we would chat. I appreciated Vern and respected him. He was thoughtful and humorous. I am sorry for your loss at this time. May you find comfort at this time. Job 14:13-15, Acts 24:15

LaVerne and I attended ISU. Every weekend he would go back home to Frankfort to see his girl friend. LaVerne would give rides to students who wanted to go north. During the week you would have to call him to book a place in his car. He charged $1.00 each way. As I remember, he had a big Oldsmobile convertible. We would stop along the way for gas, food, and drink. When we finished our bottles of pop, we would try to hit a country mailbox going at 60 mph. I was one of his first customers when he opened a State Farm Insurance office in Frankfort. Always a great guy to be around.
