Theodore “Ted” Charles Scherer

Theodore ‘Ted’ Charles Scherer Jr., 60, of Indianapolis, died unexpectedly at 9:07 a.m. April 19, 2018, with his wife Rhonda (Poe) Scherer.  They were married on August 29, 2015 at the Frankfort Bible Holiness Church. Ted was born August 1, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to Theodore & Ida Scherer.  Mr. Scherer will be remembered as a friendly, outgoing, humble man. His intellectual and witty comments will be missed by all. He lived in Illinois before moving to Indianapolis in 2012.  He worked in sales for National Programming Service.  Ted was a member of the Castleview Church in Indianapolis and the Bible Holiness Church in Frankfort.  He was a Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed Mopar cars, music, and DJing.  Ted was a religious man, enjoyed reading his bible and loved his children and granddaughter, Eva Smith.

Visitation and Services

Visitation for Ted and his wife Rhonda, will be 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 26th at Frankfort Bible Holiness Church, 1947 W. Barner St., Frankfort, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Dr. David Fry and Pastor Mark Mowery will officiate. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Frankfort Bible Holiness Church or Frankfort Covenant Academy.

Survived by:

2 Daughters: Jessie Scherer of Carol Stream, IL, Christine (David) Johnston of Carol Stream, IL, 2 Brothers: Jim Scherer of Washington, Michael Scherer of Illinois, and 2 Sisters: Deborah Scherer of Illinois, Darlene Scherer of Washington. 1 Granddaughter and many nieces and nephews also survive.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Ted for many years at National Programming Service and respected him tremendously. He will be seriously missed!

    I did not know Ted well but being Rhonda’s husband made her so happy. He had a kind spirit and smile that lit up his entire face. May God’s love surround his family at this time of sorrow.
