Russell E. “Rutt” Myers 74, of Colfax, IN, died at 3:01 a.m. November 11, 2018 at home.

Rutt was born August 14, 1944 in Frankfort, IN to Lee C. Myers and Mary Frances (Ewing) Myers.  He married Rebecca M. Payne on December 8, 1968 in Frankfort, IN and she survives.

Rutt was a 1963 graduate of Frankfort High School and was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War.  He retired from Eli Lilly and had previously worked at Staley’s.  He was a member of the Colfax Christian Church, enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and just tinkering.  He loved going to Strawtown every Thursday with friends and family.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday November 14, 2018 at Goodwin Funeral Home 200 S. Main St. Frankfort, IN. Visitation with family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday November 13, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Plainview Cemetery, Colfax, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the Clinton County Cancer Fund, envelopes will be available at Goodwins. Please share a personal message with the Myers family on this obituary page.

Wife: Becky Myers of Rural Colfax, Daughters: Maria Rebecca Myers of Frankfort, IN. Shelley Sue Stoops of Frankfort, IN. Sarah Lou Stoops of Noblesville, IN. Son: Forest L. and his wife Missy Myers of Rural Frankfort, IN. Sister:  Sarah Abbott of Frankfort, IN. Brothers:  Robert “Bob” and his wife Donna Myers of Rural Frankfort, IN. Steve “Beaver” and his wife Jo Myers of Frankfort, IN. Kenny and wife Susie Myers of Rural Frankfort, IN. 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren survive

    So sorry for your families loss. I didn’t know him personally but his sister Sarah Jane and I are good friends and I know what a loving family he has, I think heaven got another angel, rip Robert

    Russell (Rutt) and I spent many years in the same class at Kyger and Frankfort High. I haven’t seen him in several years , however I will always consider him as a friend. I am sorry for the loved ones he left behind, but am encouraged that you will see him again.
    Jesus said that he has prepared a place for us.

    There are no words that could describe what a great guy Rutt was. He was like a father to me. Becky – I’m so sorry. Just know that your kids (me included) will take care of you, because we all love you dearly. Maria – I love you, and I’m here for you, whenever you want to cry. To all of Maria’s girls – Papaw will be watching you from Heaven, so you’d better behave. To Gage and Reegan – he loved you before he knew you, and he’ll always love you. Fly high, Rutt. You’ll be missed.
