Meikel F. Miller 66, of rural Colfax, IN, died at 1:21 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 at his home unexpectedly. Born January 20, 1948 in Crawfordsville, IN to the late James L. “Jr” & Mary Ellen (Ashley) Miller. He married Rebecca Rae “Beckie” Dieterle on January 6, 1974 and she survives. Mr. Miller attended school in Colfax then graduated from Clinton Prairie in 1966. He served a full tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1967-1969 and was proud to be a veteran. He was manager, with his parents, of Miller Fish Suppers in Colfax from 1969-1995. He then worked at General Seating/NHK in Frankfort, retiring in 2013. Since July 2013 he had been associated with with Walmart on CR 350 in Lafayette as a greeter. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frankfort and American Legion in Colfax. Mike enjoyed drawing, rock & roll music and especially his three dogs, 2 beagles and a schnauzer.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be Monday, October 27, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Services will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, envelopes will be available.

    I just thanked Mike for his service yesterday and gave him a gift for Veterans at the dealership. We had a deep long conversation about the military and Veterans, I truly hate to hear this…what a great guy. You will be missed soldier…REST IN PEACE

    I thought the name sounded familiar…only met Mike thru the wife from NHK but seem like a great guy especially when he told me he was a Vietnam Vet and we shook hands on the spot…:) RIP Mr. Miller, prayers and condolences to all his family…:)

    I didn’t know Mike very well but he always had a cheerful smile when I talked to him at NHK. I remember the day he retired. He will be greatly missed. RIP Mike

    Mike and I were in the same class and graduated from Clinton Prairie in 1966. I remember him being such a warm, caring and fun-loving person. I’m deeply saddened to learn of his passing. My thoughts and prayers will be with his family during this very difficult time.

    Mike was a really good person that always had a smile and a way to make me laugh. I worked with him many years at General Seating/NHK. After he retired I always looked forward to seeing him at the Walmart on 350. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

    So sorry to hear this. Mike was a great friend. I know we had talked many times about going out to Colorado to see Shotgun (Jim) Ayers, but never made it. Time just goes too fast. You and Louie have my condolences. He will be missed. God speed.

    I worked with Mike for several years and enjoyed doing so. I also enjoyed having a chat with him now and again in the walmart entryway. What a great guy that will be truly missed. My condolences to his family.

    Mike was always like the brother I never had. I such wonderful memories of the pool, his monkey, the restaurant and his mom and dad. You will be missed by many and you were loved by more people than you ever realized. My prayers go out to Becky and his son. RIP MIKE

    I’m sorry to hear of Meikel’s passing, hasn’t been that long since we were greeted by his smile at WalMart. We lived in Colfax many years ago, and he gave me a POW/MIA bracelet that was his return date from Nam, but the missing date of another young man. I still have that, my son wears it proudly. Please know you are in our thoughts…

    Becky and family…. I personally did not know Mike very well, but my brother, Ted Camp, and him were good friends at CP and I knew Mike as we would pass in the halls. Know that my heart is saddened for you and your son at your sad and sudden loss. From what I have read here your husband was a good man and thought of highly. I do remember Mike when we would go to Miller’s…..fond memories. Cling to your precious memories, I know at this time this may be difficult, but as you think of him in the days to come at some point you will remember Mike and there will be a smile on your face.     Becky … So sorry for your loss … Mike was a wonderful man . I will miss talking to him at the store in colfax or wherever in town that i would see him . He was a great mentor to all of us when we were younger .. When Millers was open and the opportunity he gave to a lot of young people to work and the friend he was to them… Just an all around great guy .. He will be missed so much ..     Mike and I grew up across the alley from each other in Colfax. There were four of us and Mike had no siblings. He was our “fifth”. We spent much time together and the memories just came flooding in when this sad news reached me. Becky, you and Louie are in my continued prayers as you work through your grief. See you tomorrow.

    I did not know Mike, but my brother, John Walters, talked constantly about Mike, Becky and Louie. He was a good friend of the family.     I’m lost for words. I’m sorry Becky and Louie about the loss of Mike. He one one of the best friends a person could ever have.
    He touched many people’s lives and left great memories. Sorry I can’t be there for health reasons but you will be remembered in prayers.

    Mike old friend. Memories came flooding back. We have not known each other over the years but my high school time with you is well remembered. Our double dating with Becky and Nancy. Riding in your 442. Parties with the HS kids at your house. You had the only swimming pool in our group of friends and maybe in Clinton County. Always great food from the restaurant.     I remember Mike from my teaching days at CPHS, and then from many trips to enjoy catfish and onion rings at the restaurant. He was always wearing a smile but I lost track of Mike after the restaurant was gone. My condolences to his wife and son. May God grant you peace and comfort in these trying times.
