Facebook Twitter GoogleI will always have great memories of Manford Stewart and Stewart Prairie Farm, first as a veterinary student and then as the farm veterinarian. The Stewart name was synonymous with quality Hampshire pigs through Manford’s father, “Doc” Stewart. Manford saw the need for some changes in the swine industry and began producing high health replacement females for farms throughout Indiana and surrounding states. This allowed family farmers to expand their farms and produce more market animals, and was a highly successful business. This provided opportunity for another generation to come back to the farm , which Ramon and his family have done, continuing to adapt to the changing business of swine production.
Even though Manford did not always have a lot to say about how he felt, it was obvious that he enjoyed the pigs, loved his dogs, had a passion for cars, and was proud of and cared deeply about his family.
He will be missed by family and friends. My prayers are with the family during this time of loss

Your father has left a legacy of honor and dignity. It will be hard to carry on without him at the helm of the family but his values will forever live on through his family.
Know that we are thinking of you all and pray for the peace of God and the love of Jesus to surround all of you and keep you close in the days and weeks ahead.
Love across the miles from us to you—-Jack and Marilyn
