Linda Sue Hout, 71, of Sterling Heights, MI, died May 10, 2019 in her home.  She was born March 24, 1948 in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Robert F. & Winifred J. (Spurgeon) Kern.  She was married to Steven Hout for 39 years.

Linda was a 1967 graduate of Frankfort High School and received her Associates Degree from Ball State University.  Born and raised in Frankfort, she lived most of her adult life in Edwardsburg, Michigan.  A chemist, she worked for Miles Laboratory and Serim Research for over 20 years and was co-inventor of 3 patents.  She attended the Presbyterian Church in Elkhart, Indiana.  Linda enjoyed golf, swimming, tennis, teaching swimming lessons at the YMCA, boating, camping, knitting, and being a seamstress.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral Celebration will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Clinton County Humane Society.

Son: Jason (Kathleen) Hout of Lake Orion, MI, Daughter: Julie (Steven) Haddix of Wentzville, MO, 2 Brothers: Bill (Linda) Kern of Zionsville and Steve (Karla) Kern of Zionsville, 2 Grandsons: Dylan & Ryan Hout and 3 Step Grand Children: Maggie, Kaylee & Erica Haddix

    Dear Family,
    I was sad to hear of Linda’s passing. We were close friends in high school. Linda was very sweet and always had a smile.

    Dear Kern Family,

    It was sad news to learn of Linda’s passing. She was a kind and fun-loving person. She and the entire Kern family were good friends with my family. We shared many good times together camping in some of Indiana’s state parks and recreation areas. Those memories are still with me and I am so sorry for your loss.

    Linda was my across the street neighbor in Edwardsburg. We shared many interests and both worked at Miles/Bayer. I lost touch with her in recent years but always carried her in my heart and will continue to do so. I would love to be in touch with Jason and Julie.

    My thoughts have been with you this morning during the time of Linda’s memorial. I wish I could have been there to give you my condolences in person. Linda was a special, dear person to me and I will never forget her.

    I’m so sad right now , I’m just finding out Linda has gone home to be with the Lord. Sending much love and my sincere condolences to the family. Linda was a sweet woman. She helped me get a job at Serum, which I truly loved. RIH. MY FRIEND
