Evelyn M. Renier 92, a former Colfax resident, died at 12:35 a.m. May 23, 2014 at Barrington Terrace Assisted Living in Fort Myers, FL. Born May 1, 1922 in Rush County, Indiana to the late Dwight L. & Mabel (Farlow) Davidson. She married Donald E. Renier on April 15, 1986 in Cape Corral, FL and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2005. Mrs. Renier was a 1940 graduate of Milroy High School and attended Butler University. She grew up in Rush County, moved to Clinton County in 1948 and moved to Florida in 1967. She was a member of the McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers and the Lexington Country Club south of Fort Myers. She was very active in her church. An avid Bridge player, she was a member of several bridge clubs. Evelyn received voice instruction and education from Indiana University and gave lessons in piano and voice in Clinton County. Throughout her life she was able to help people by singing and directing church choirs both in Clinton County and in the Fort Myers area. Evelyn had the opportunity to sing with Al Stewart’s Purdue Glee Club in the Hollywood Bowl. She had the opportunity to travel to Europe with a group of ladies & sing with the Purdue Glee Club when her son Orrin was a little boy. Music brought much pleasure and happiness into her life.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. at the funeral Home. Gregg Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Colfax, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33966 or the Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.

1 Son: Orrin D. Davison of Colfax, IN and 1 Stepdaughter: Gale E. Renier of Fort Wayne, IN.

Preceded by:

a daughter, Leana Davison.

    Orrin, I was sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. I have many fond memories of times our families spent together. May she rest in peace. She had a long life.
