Mrs. Cole, We haven’t met. I knew your husband from the YMCA and shared a machine next to him on several occasions. He was always in good humor and pleasant to talk to. He would share stories and photos of how the two of you met , ( you were so shy) , pictures of your little dogs , kids, grandchidren and especially your travels together. I still have some brochures in my cupboard about Costa Rica that he gave me . He said both of you really enjoyed that vacation. I had asked another “regular” from the Y just last week if he had seen your husband, we were so used to seeing him come in , and it had been a while. We both just learned of his passing yesterday. Everyone at the Y is in shock over this. He touched the lives of many , and will be missed by all of us. I’m so sorry for your loss. Dee Myer

Mrs. Cole, you don’t know me but I knew your husband through the many conversations we had at the YMCA. My wife and I have been out of town and upon our recent return I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. You have my deepest sympathies and condolences. I talked with Dave many times over the past few years, mainly in the locker room. He loved to talk about the many trips the two of you had taken–the cruise through the northeast waterways, the Costa Rica trip, and others. He also told me about the many convocations that the two of you enjoyed at Purdue University. He had a real sparkle in his eye and enjoyed talking about interesting subjects. I and other members of the Y will miss Dave and his friendly manner. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
