I was stunned to see the obituary for Dan. He was my immediate manager at Indiana Farmers Mutual. I was an Office Claims Adjuster under him until my early retirement in 2002, but I still spoke to him a couple of times after we had moved to New Jersey. When my husband and I moved back to Indiana, I heard that he had moved from Brownsburg and had left Indiana Farmers Mutual. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed working with him and treasured his friendship. I have memories of a very charming, personable, lovable man who truly made life richer for all those around him. Please accept my sympathy on your very sad loss.

    To the Kallner Family:
I had the pleasure of working with Dan at Indiana Farmers Mutual for several years. Dan was a great friend to me. I worked very closely with him over the span of three years, and I found him to be honest, humorous, creative and a strong communicator. Dan and I worked on several major projects together, and we developed a strong bond of friendship during that time. Dan was someone that I could seek out to help me work through issues, both while he was at IFM, and after he left. His intelligence and ability to put an issue into perspective was a a wonderful gift.
I spoke with him just a month ago, and as usual, he was concerned about his parents. I know that he was a great son, and was always concerned about the welfare of his parents first. I know he will be deeply missed by his family. He often talked to me about his nieces and nephew, how he would spend time with them and would travel to their sporting events. He loved them dearly.
While I did not have the opportunity to know Dan for more than a few years, he touched my life, and I will miss him. I am thankful to have shared so many days with Dan, and was blessed to call him a friend.
    May God Bless your family.
With deepest condolences on your loss,
    Scott W. Miller
    Sales Manager
    Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Company

I knew Dan only since this past September when we started the Leadership Lafayette program, and how lucky I was to have been able to interact with him! He always had insightful comments to offer or thought-provoking questions to ask. He said he was looking forward to giving back to the community after working for so many years in insurance, but now we know his work on earth was done- well done, Dan!
