Charles Burtner Peak

Charles Burtner Peak, 86, of rural Frankfort, died at 9:20 a.m. February 17, 2018 at his home.  He was born on September 26, 1931 in Kirklin, Ind. to Hurlis Wayne & Louisa Mae (Grey) Peak.  He married Jeanette Evans on April 3, 1952 in Frankfort, Ind. and she survives.

Charles was a 1950 graduate of Kirklin High School.  He worked for General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1996.  While working there he earned a degree in metrology calibration from Ivy Tech. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion in Kirklin.  Charles enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing and loved being with his family.

The family would like to thank Franciscan Health Hospice Team, especially his frequent visitors, Holly and Dwight.

Visitation and Services

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.

Wife: Jeanette Peak of rural Frankfort, 3 Daughters: Sheryl (Mark) Butcher of Kirklin, Elaine Ballard of Washington State, Christine Waters of Frankfort, Sister: Geneva Lashbrook of Frankfort, Brother-in-Law: Donald (Patricia) Evans of Kirklin, 8 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Preceded by:

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, 5 sisters and a great granddaughter.

    I am so sorry to hear of Charles’ passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I will certainly miss his smile, his pleasant demeanor and his faithfulness to the YMCA. He was a joy to be around, a friend to all, and will be remembered for this.
