Charles B. Conklin

Charles B. Conklin Jr. 87 of Frankfort, IN, died at 8:20 a.m. April 21, 2011 at home. Born August 6, 1923 in Switz City, IN to Charles F. & Ella (Jackson) Conklin. He married Grace Jeanette Catron on January 4, 1943 in Frankfort and she survives. Mr. Conklin attended school in Indianapolis and move to Frankfort in 1939. A veteran of the U.S. Army he served from 1940-1943 during WWII. He was in the 448th Engineering Depot Co. in Japan and Korea. A longtime mechanic at Zinks, he also worked 20 years for Ramey Burial Vault Co. and 15 years for Sun Chemical. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the oldest member of Eagles Lodge in Frankfort and a member of the Corn Huskers Band for several years. Mr. Conklin loved fishing and traveling.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, April 24th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow the service in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Clinton County Cancer Fund, envelopes will be available.

(Catron) Conklin of Frankfort Daughter: Patty (Bill) Joiner of Lafayette 2 Sons: Gary (Jeanie) Conklin of Frankfort and Kenny Conklin of Monticello 3 Sisters: June Dunn of Frankfort, Sandy (Bob) Ceder of Indianapolis and Mary Lou (Harold) Bowerman of Frankfort 7 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy C. Conklin on July 13, 1989, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

    Pete and Jeanie and family we send our love and prayers and to Jeanette also. We always enjoyed our visits over the years when they came down to Florida and on our trips to Indiana. Charlie always brought a smile he will be missed. Love to all.
