Betty J. (Rudd) Sanders

August 25, 2009

Betty J. (Rudd) Sanders 65 of Frankfort, IN, died at 3:50 a.m. August 25, 2009 at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital. Born November 28, 1943 in Connersville, IN, to Frances M. & Anna L. (Wyatt) Rudd. Betty was a graduate of Sheridan High School and had worked several years at Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company in Frankfort. Most recently, she was employed by St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital. Betty will long be remembered for her devotion to the Annual DeFeet Cancer Walk for the Clinton County Cancer Society. Over the years, she had raised thousands of dollars for this charity, and even when she was not able to walk herself, she was still collecting donations and recruiting walkers for the cause. In addition, she would organize bake sales for co-workers and friends to help defray the costs of cancer treatments. Betty also loved animals and was forever rescuing and feeding stray cats around Frankfort. She loved her family and friends, and her happiest days were spent with her beloved granddaughter, Grace.

I am so saddened to hear of Betty’s passing. She was one of the best people this earth will ever know. Her compassion and love for everyone she knew was obvious from the first moment you met her and I was blessed to call her a friend for many years. Few of us know if we are going to Heaven, but Betty Sanders is one who is now sitting at the right hand of God and He is pleased. I will miss her and think of her often with love. My most sincere condolences to Pat and her girls. Please know how much she loved you all and how proud and deeply in love she was with little Grace.

Betty was such a wonderful, warm and happy person. I was blessed to know her. She will be sorely missed. How sad to see her go. I worked with her for years at the hospital in Frankfort. I was in the ED and I’d see her every morning when she was coming through to check our supplies. Betty always brightened my day with her funny quips and great sense of humor. She was always so happy to talk about her girls, her mom, her pets and Pat, not necessarily in that order. I will truly miss her and my life was made brighter by having her in it.

I hadn’t seen Betty in several years, but when we would see each other we always had a good time. She was a real card to say the least.
You lived your life to the fullest, I will keep you in my heart cousin.
    Your cuz Pam

I am truly blessed to have know Betty for many years. We meet when she lived on Jackson St. We worked together at Federal Mogul as well as St. Vincent. She was a compassionate and very loving person always doing for others. Her love for all of you showed in her eyes everytime she spoke of you (which was quite often) . When I came down with cancer a year ago she was my cheerleader, encouraging me, supporting me in every way. I can only hope that I was just as supporting to her as she was to me. She was a blessing from God and I thank God that are paths crossed and we were friends. I will miss you very much but will never forget you.!!!! God has his special angel with him now named Betty.

    Pat, Lisa, James, Sandy,
Betty was very special to me. We met working together at the hospital and became friends. She was so unique, strong willed and stubborn one minute, and soft hearted and giving the next. There are very few people like her in this world. She had principles and beliefs that she always held true, too. I admired her honesty and her giving spirit.
We spent lunches and time on the phone talking about all of you and how much she cared for you. Over the last couple years we spent a lot of our time talking about Gracie and looking at all her photos. She was so proud of her.
I will truly miss her and think of her often. Her faith was strong and I’m sure she is in a better place now. My prayers are with all of you. God bless you.

    Dear Pat,
I’m extremely saddened to hear about Betty’s passing. When I was working in CVS a month or two ago Betty came in and I saw her. She immediately recognized me after all these years of not living across from you two on Harrison street. She gave me a big hug and of course she gave me that infectious smile she had. I still remember back to the days where I would go over to her house and play with her cats outside. Do you remember? I send all of my condolences to you Pat, and to Betty’s Family.
    God Bless,
    Brandon Cockrum

So sorry to hear about the loss of Betty, but God will be receiving one heck of a lady. She was always so happy and spread that on to the rest of us. Always sad to lose a Sheridan alumna and a sister of a classmate (Clovis). Anna has been a dear friend of mine for years and my heart aches for her and the rest of the family. Sincerely, Bernetta

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Betty. I worked with her at St Vincent Frankfort and would see her daily on her rounds of the hospital. She had an infectious smile and a huge kind heart. She will be missed by all that knew her. God really has a great person by his side.

It breaks my heart that we have lost such a remarkable lady. She was always working on ways to help others. It made my day when I’d see her pushing her cart in the halls of the hospital – she was always cheerful and positive and I always walked away with a smile on my face and little better outlook on the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with her entire family…she will be missed.

Dear Pat, Lisa, James, Sandy and Grace,
I knew Betty for all the years she worked at the hospital. She was always smiling…Always eager to help. We had many wonderful conversations about all of you…how much she loved you all….her worries about you….her pride in your accomplishments. Her love of animals was amazing….I remember the tent in the backyard for the stray mother cat and her kittens…the shelter on the porch for another favorite stray…People who love animals have a special place in heaven, I think.
Betty was always concerned about others and never complained, even when she had every right to moan and groan. She was a wonderful example to all of us. The world would be a tremendously better place if we all followed her example.

My sympathy to the family of Betty Rudd. In 1966, I was living with my parents near Kirklin. I started working 2nd shift at National Seal and needed to share a ride. With no prior introduction, Betty volunteered when she heard about my need. She came by every afternoon and drove to Frankfort and home every night. I came to know her and enjoy her company. We were friends through the years.
