Alice Jean (Geib) Baker

Alice Jean (Geib) Baker, 83, of Erwin, TN, died February 25, 2019 at the Center on Aging and Health, Erwin, TN.  Born June 17, 1935 in Frankfort, Ind. to Lloyd G. & Thelma F. (Carman) Geib.  She married Richard J. Baker on July 30, 1954 in Frankfort and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2013.

Mrs. Baker was a 1953 graduate of Frankfort High School.  She lived in Frankfort for 40 years, Indianapolis for 23 years before moving to Tennessee in 1998.  She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Bearing Inc. and Executive Assistant at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Milling Company, before retiring on June 20, 1998.  While living in Frankfort and raising her family, she worked with her mother teaching and creating beautiful ceramics.  She enjoyed retired life living in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee.  She was an avid bridge player and displayed a very competitive energy when playing games/cards with family and friends.  Jean truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; watching tennis, traveling across the US and Europe, and visiting with friends and family.  She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many.  Mrs. Baker formerly attended St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort.

Memorial donations in honor of Mrs. Baker may be directed to Mountain Dale Freewill Baptist Church, 102 Little Bald Creek Rd., Erwin, TN  37650, (423)735-1105.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 12 Noon, March 9, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort, IN.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon on Saturday prior to the service.  Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park in Frankfort. 

Survived by:

She was survived by two Sons: Tracy A. (Ann) Baker of Irons, MI and David L. (Marge) Baker of Tucson, AZ, eight grandchildren, four great granddaughters and two great grandsons.  

Preceded by:

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Grant J. Baker (1990) and one brother, Richard G. Geib (2017).

    I went to Mountain Dale FWB Church with Jean for a short time. She was a sweet, gentle lady full of love for
    others. Her presence was an asset to the congregation & to me personally.
    She would always stop to speak with
    me when I would meet her at Walmart, etc. A true joy
